Data preparation
The printing data for our printing plants must comply with ISO 12647-3, Quality standard for newspaper production. Your PDF files for printing should comply with ISO 15930. That means the PDF files must be PDF/X - 1a: 2001 compliant.
Berliner format
The page size is 315x470mm. If we connect two Berliner pages, we get one Berliner panorama page of physical size 630x470mm. For example, the daily newspaper MF DNES is published in Berliner format.

There are the following most common errors when preparing data for Berliner pages:
- A wrong size of the electronic page
- A larger print space
- The print space is not center justified in the electronic page
- A wrong or no Output Intent (ICC profile) in the PDF file for printing
- The tone value sum is more than 240%
- Graphics in the RGB color space
- Using PANTONE spot colors
Tabloid format
The page size is 235x315mm. If we connect two tabloid pages, we get one tabloid panorama page of physical size 470x315mm (i.e. Berliner page). For example, the daily newspaper METRO is published in this format. There is a basic difference between tabloid format and Berliner format during data preparation: the tabloid pages are always in page pairs, one PDF file for printing should content two tabloid pages.

- There is only one tabloid page (and not two pages) in one PDF file for printing
- Incorrect rotation of even and odd pages
- A wrong size of the electronic page
- The print space is not center justified in the electronic page
- A wrong or no Output Intent (ICC profile) in the PDF file for printing
- The tone value sum is more than 240%
- Graphics in the RGB color space
- Using PANTONE spot colors
Another format
It is a large format – a standard Berliner panorama page is connected with additional single pages on each side. The graphics can continuously be on all four pages. This format is especially used for advertising purposes.

This format is, as the name suggests, a half of the standard page. This format is produced with narrower paper reels. It is also a format for advertising purposes.

If the tabloid or Berliner format are not convenient to a client, it is possible to cut the product from three sides during print finishing. This option is used in the production of flyers for retail chains.

V1 binding
This format must be processed at the stitching equipment and at the three sides cutter after printing. This is usually for the production of magazines with the cover of a coated paper that is printed at different printing machines. The following parameters are for a sample of the final product in A4 format with edge to edge printing.
